Roads of North East to Bangladesh & Myanmar to be Widened Very Soon

Webdesk, TNI Guwahati 5th April, 2018: Very soon the connectivity of the North Eastern states are going to improve with the neighboring countries like Myanmar and Bangladesh. The Government of India plans to widen the existing road network of the North Eastern states adjacent to the Myanmar and Bangladesh border. This was informed to the Parliament i.e. by the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Mansukh L. Mandaviya in a written. This was given on the basis of a question raised by a sitting MP from North East in Lok Sabha. The minister also added that “The improvement in the socio-economic condition of people in the region is expected from the planned improvement of these roads.” The details that came out from the Parliament sources said that the ‘road widening projects’ provided by the minister contains the work on Imphal – Moreh section of NH-39 in Manipur and another section Shangshak to Namphisa. There are further plans for Meghalaya, for improving Shillong – Dawki section of NH-40 Tura-Dalu section of NH-51. Apart from this, Baghmara – Rongra-Mahdeo – Ranikor and a section from Assam-Meghalaya border to Dalu via Baghmara will also be developed under the different aspects of the project.
